Belmont County residents continue to receive COVID-19 vaccines
More than one-quarter of Guernsey County residents have completed the COVID-19 vaccination process, according to statistics released by the Ohio Department of Health on April 22.
The ODH reported 11,816 Guernsey County residents (30.39%) have started receiving vaccines while 9,865 (25.38%) have completed the process to be vaccinated against coronavirus.
Statistics are similar in Belmont and Noble counties where 20,504 (30.60%) and 4,302 (29.83) residents, respectively, have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The number of residents finished receiving vaccines stands at 15,705 (23.44%) in Belmont County and 3,533 (24.49%) in Noble County.
The age range with the most vaccinated residents is 50 to 59 in Guernsey and Noble counties while Belmont County residents age 65 to 69 lead the way.
The second and third highest age range for completed vaccinations in Guernsey and Noble counties are the same at 65 to 69 and 60 to 64. In Belmont County, 50 to 59 is second followed by 70 to 74.
According to the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, Guernsey and Noble counties remain at Level 2 (orange) while Belmont County is Level 3 (red).
Increased exposure and spread is reported in orange counties while counties in the red have a very high exposure and spread rate.
Residents in red counties are asked to limit activities, as much as possible, while those living in orange counties are asked to exercise a high degree of caution when it comes to activities.
Muskingum is the only other local county at Level 3, as Monroe, Washington, Morgan, Coshocton, Tuscarawas and Harrison counties are all listed at Level 2.
Muskingum County has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 8,734 followed by Tuscarawas, 8,401; Belmont, 5,679; Washington, 5,103; Guernsey, 3,089; Coshocton, 2,610; Noble, 1,331; Monroe, 1,291; Morgan, 1,077; and Harrison, 1,061.
To date, 1,060,119 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Ohio.
Tuscarawas County continues to lead the area with 639 coronavirus hospitalizations followed by Muskingum, 630; Belmont, 276; Guernsey, 248; Coshocton, 205; Washington, 197; Monroe, 107; Noble, 96; Harrison, 84; and Morgan, 65.
Deaths in Tuscarawas County have risen to 240 followed by Belmont County, 159; Muskingum, 127; and Washington, 108. COVID-19 deaths in Guernsey and Noble counties total 49 and 37, respectively.
Statewide, 19,033 deaths have occurred since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 vaccines continue to be available at Southeastern Med and Muskingum Valley Health Centers in Guernsey County, as well as the Guernsey and Noble county health departments.
