Snow days and freezing weather shouldn’t slow you down. Bundle up, grab a friend and head out this week to shake off those winter blues. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities – both online and off, and events from around the state right here every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to double-check all activities, as cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic can still occur. At the time of writing, all events listed have not been canceled. The events listed are for Feb. 17-26.
A Virutal Walk Through Working Woods. Join the Geauga County Farm Bureau and the Holdren Arboretum to gain a new perspective into what it takes to maintain a working wooded area. Guest speaker Jessica Miller, a Community Forester, will be on hand to discuss harvesting timber, conserving woods and managing invasions. This virtual tour is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and registration can be found at www.eventbrite.com. This is a free event, and Zoom Access information will be provided upon registration. Fish Fry Dinner. The Byesville Volunteer Fire Department is holding another fish fry and you’ll want to get there early. Known for selling out fast, the dinner is scheduled to run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $8 per dinner with the proceeds benefitting the department. For more information, call 740-685-6222. Lafferty Moose Annual Gun Bash. Attend the online gun bash this year and skip the winter driving. Stream the bash via the Lafferty Moose Gunbash Facebook page. Tickets can be purchased for $40 at the lodge itself or through a lodge member. The 50/50 drawing tickets are $10 each. Scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call 740-968-9298.
Weirton: Holistic Health and Psychic Fair. Make the scenic drive to Weirton and possibly get a glimpse into your future. Come speak with a psychic or medium, and purchase that one of a kind gift at the fair. Put on by the Angel Gift Center, Vicky Kimble, and the Rev. Carol Borkoski, admission to the event is $5 per person, with readings starting at $30. There will be vendors on-site as well, including Mangata Grove,

Deep Down County. Dust off your dancing shoes and bring your appetite to Main Street Barrel House. Nothing goes better with bruschetta and beer than good tunes by Deep Down Country. - Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Orchid towers reaching up to nine feet tall, burbling water features, a walk through the tropical glasshouse, and more await your visit. Make the day trip and enjoy the flowers.
