5 Loaves Food Ministry plans food giveaway for Feb. 20

Special to The Enterprise

5 Loaves Food Ministry," an outreach ministry of the First Christian Church of Barnesville, located at 219 W Church St., is announcing the next scheduled food giveaway and luncheon from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The ministry serves those in need in the Barnesville school district. A proper ID is required and only one give away to a household is permitted.

The ministry is based on scripture found in Matthew 14:19, "And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people."

"The mission of 5 Loaves Food Ministry is to model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing food to the hungry and needy. It is our prayer that those who receive food will be strengthened both physically and spiritually. In all situations, the loving and compassionate character of Jesus is to be as much a part of our mission as the tangible food that we give," according to the orgaization.

“5 Loaves Food Ministry” is located in the basement of The First Christian Church of Barnesville. It can be reached by calling 740-425-2480. The ministry is self-funded and all donations of food or money are welcomed.
