Vaccinations continue in Belmont County

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Over 400 Belmont County residents age 80 or older were vaccinated during the first week that shots administered at several locations last month including Barnesville Hospital.

With more doses on the way, the county health department is lowering the age limit to 75. It will eventually drop to 65. Citizens may register at the health department’s website at www.belmontcountyhealth.com or call WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital at 740-425-5255 to register for an appointment.

Each person vaccinated must receive a second dose in about one month.

Early last week, county health officials reported 4,791 positive cases since March 2020. On January 25 898 people in isolation, 3,761 recovered, and 44 people under hospital care. A total of 88 residents have died with complications from the virus.
