King Pumpkin converted to art

Special to the Enterprise
Squash carver Gus Smithhisler, shown here, a participant in this year's Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, added some post-festival artwork on the 2,195-pound state champion King Pumpkin entry grown by Jeff Theil. "I had fun carving the ‘Bear catching salmon.’ Thank you, Barnesville Pumpkin Festival and grower Jeff Theil for letting me carve the Ohio state record giant pumpkin." It’s on display this week for a short time in front of Wesbanco in Barnesville. The entry was purchased at auction by Belmont Classic Cars owners Andy and Dana Mistak for $8,500.
