King Pumpkin auction nets $8,500

The top three pumpkins from the 2021 festival weighing a total of 6,276 pounds. The King Pumpkin weighed in at 2,195 pounds and was grown by Jeff Theil.

Following the parade Saturday, the sale of the state record setting 2,195-pound King Pumpkin grown by Jeff Theil of Dillonvale garnered a winning bid of $8,500 from Belmont Classic Cars, a classic and collector car dealership at the intersection of Stenger Road and SR 149 between Belmont and Morristown. Owners of the specialty dealership that opened in 2017 are Andy and Dana Mistak.

Proceeds from the sale benefit the continuation of the 57-year-old street festival, one of the oldest and most popular throughout the region.
