ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Belmont County has formed a planning commission.

County commissioner Jerry Echemann said the commission will be used to update zoning regulations in the county since the current ones are from the 1960s.

New policies and regulations will be created to ensure future projects are up to standard.

About a dozen people, including the three county commissioners and the county engineer, will be a part of the commission as well as realtors, lawyers and township trustees.

The commission plans on meeting in the coming weeks to start discussions on updating policies and regulations.
