Board of education approves the use of face coverings

The Barnesville Exempted Village Board of Education met Aug. 20 and approved the policy which requires the use of face coverings for both students and staff.

This policy requiring face coverings complies with state requirements and recommendations to prevent and slow the spread of COVID-19. The current consensus among public health experts is that face coverings are a preventative measure that can reduce the spread of COVID-19, when used along with other preventative measures, including social distancing, frequent handwashing, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.

In other business, the board tabled discussion on a BACE grievance regarding Goaliners mowing at the football stadium.

The board also approved a list of new policies, as well as a list of amended policies.

The following classified substitutes for the 2020-2021 school year were approved: Jessica Snyder, substitute aide, cook, custodian and secretary; Timmy Arnold, substitute groundskeeper/floater; Delbert Owens, substitute groundskeeper/floater; Timothy Trip, substitute custodian; and Tim Rockwell, substitute custodian.

In other business, the board approved a lengthy list of donations in July for the Back to School Drive.

The board also approved the enclosed FY21 Revenue Adjustments and the enclosed 2021 Appropriation Resolution.

A one-year supplemental contract was awarded to Chad Hall, head bowling coach, for the 2020-2021 school year.
