A woman suffered serious injuries Saturday in a car crash — the second accident in consecutive days in front of a Cleveland Clinic facility in Twinsburg.

First responders with the Twinsburg Fire Department requested a helicopter to fly the woman for trauma care, but no helicopter was available. So medics took her by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital where she was to be treated for multiple bone fractures protruding from the skin of her legs.

Her condition is unknown.

The Twinsburg Police Department report on the three-car crash was not available Sunday.

Gina Devito-Staub, shift commander with the Twinsburg Fire Department, said it was the second vehicle accident in two days on Darrow Road in front of the Cleveland Clinic’s Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center.

Devito-Staub said the call came in from dispatch at 7:26 p.m. Saturday. First responders arrived to find to “two walking wounded drivers, including an elderly woman,” said Devito-Straub, who was not working the shift but was able to review a call log of the incident.

Firefighters dispatched command and squad cars, as well as an engine to contain potentially hazardous materials with at least one of the wrecked cars leaking fluid onto the road.

There were no other major injuries reported from the incident, Devito-Straub said.
