GREENSBORO, NC — Muskingum University dropped an 82-78 heartbreaker in overtime to Guilford College in the Guilford College Classic on Sunday.
Muskingum, which lost to Lynchburg by a 75-66 score on Saturday, is now 5-7 on the season.
Guilford (8-4) led 33-21 at the half before Muskingum outscored the hosts 47-35 in the second half to force OT with the score knotted at 68-68. Guilford then posted a 14-10 edge in the extra session to earn the victory.
Marcus Curry had 23 points off the bench to lead Guilford while also in double figure were Jaylen Gore with 17, Carson Long with 14 and Kyler Gregory with 11.
For Muskingum, Devon Peart and Jalen Paige each tallied 16 points; Mitch Clark scored 13; Cameron Miller netted 10 and Trey Singleton added nine.
Guilford was 28-of-59 from the field and 17-of-26 at the free throw line while Muskingum hit 27-of-71 floor shots and 12-of-13 at the charity stripe. The winners had 40 rebounds and 14 turnovers while the Muskies grabbed 38 boards and were charted with just eight turnovers.
