Barnesville 61, St. Clairsville 47
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Talitha Bedford recorded a double-double for visiting Barnesville High and the Lady Shamrocks took care of St. Clairsville High by a 61-47 count on Monday.
Barnesville (11-6) completely dominated the boards, hauling in 52 rebounds with 24 of them coming on the offensive side of the ball.
BHS also made it hard for the Lady Red Devils to get off a shot by delivering six blocks.
The Lady ‘Rocks started strong with a 13-6 first frame, although the second period wasn’t as easy for BHS, the Lady Shamrocks still managed to outscore St. C 15-12 to secure a 28-18 advantage going into the break.
The Lady Devils got things going in the third period by collecting a narrow 21-19 quarter but it barely cut into the large deficit as Barnesville held a 47-39 heading into the final quarter of play.
Barnesville dominated the final frame by a 14-6 count and ran away with a 14-point victory.
Kallee Dowler was the Lady ‘Rocks’ leading scorer with 18 points, while Bedford accounted for 16 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.
Dulcie Christman also contributed a strong effort for BHS as she produced 10 points, eight boards and two blocks while teammate Shayla Markovich added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Sydney Freeman paced St. Clairsville with 18 points and Anna DeFilippo followed with 12 points.

Barnesville 65, Bellaire 59
BARNESVILLE — Homestanding Barnesville High picked up victory No. 12 by defeating Bellaire, 65-59, on Thursday.
Coach Jamie Carpenter’s Lady Shamrocks got off to a solid start with a 20-13 lead after the opening quarter, but Bellaire battled back to tie the score at 28-all by halftime with a 15-8 edge in the second period.
The Lady Big Reds posted a 15-14 edge in the third round to take a narrow 43-42 edge to the fourth quarter where Barnesville gained a 23-16 edge to claim the victory.
Kallee Dowler topped Barnesville (12-6) with 19 points while Talitha Bedford and Shayla Markovich also reached double figures with 14 and 12, respectively. Sarah Powell chipped in eight and Dulcie Christman had seven.
The Lady Shamrocks collected 31 rebounds, led by Markovich with 11 and Dowler with six; 13 assists including five by Katie Jackson; 13 steals with four by Markovich and six blocks, with Christman swatting four.
Barnesville overcame 28 turnovers by cashing 16-of-31 free throws to just 3-of-4 for Bellaire.
For Bellaire (5-11), DeAsia Burney collected 14 points and eight assists; Taylor Stoner notched a dozen counters; Natalie Stoner tallied 11 markers; and Maci Crosier had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Union Local 67, Buckeye Local 45
MORRISTOWN — Union Local High jumped out to a big first quarter lead and went on to a 67-45 victory over Buckeye Local on Thursday.
The Lady Jets (9-9) broke on top 25-9 after one quarter before Buckeye Local (10-7) cut into the lead with a 17-12 edge in the second period to pull within 36-26. A 22-10 surge by  UL put the game away at 58-36 heading to the final frame.
Saige Butler and Alli DeLaney led the Lady Jets with 22 and 20 points, respectively, while Kaitlynn Clark-Patterson netted a dozen.
Danielle Dvorcek scored 14; Emily Holzopfel 13 and Becky Zeroski 10 for Buckeye Local, with Zeroski becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,142 career points.
UL was 24-of-61 from the field and 13-of-22 at the free throw line while Buckeye hit 16-of-59 action shots and 9-of-15 charity tosses.
