The Barnesville Greens Soccer team finished up their 2015 fall season last Thursday evening with an awards ceremony at a party held after a game with Union Local Jets soccer team. Shown in front is Madisen Robinson who is displaying her team captain plaque, while to her right is Talitha Bedford who won an award as most outstanding midfielder. Back row (left to right) are Casey Betts, most improved female player; Chris Toohey, MVP (most valuable player); Zack Wells, most improved male player; Alexis Wade, outstanding forward player; and Allison Sheppard, outstanding defender. Absent from photo is Chance Carman who was honored with a goal keeper award.
The Greens squad lost their soccer match with the Union Local Jets, 1-0. A previous contest in the season saw the Greens team win with a 6-2 score over the Jets. Thursday’s final game was a 0-0 tie until Union Local team sent a ball into their goal during the last five minutes. There will be no backyard rivalry for a milk trophy with Union Local since the Barnesville Greens are not an official Shamrock soccer team.
It was a special evening for senior, Madisen Robinson who was honored and escorted across the field by her mother, Jen Robinson, in a ceremony for seniors. The Union Local High School was also having their senior evening for soccer players before the game.
