Capitalizing on host Barnesville Highs turnovers and a big night running the ball by Brooks Ramsey, the Shadyside Tigers, ranked fourth in Division VI in the coaches poll, completed their first undefeated regular season since 1977 and locked up a home field slot for the OHSAA postseason playoffs with a 35-0 shutout of the Rocks to spoil the Homecoming festivities on Friday.

Ramsey rambled for 223 yards on 18 carries and scored one touchdown as the Tigers piled up 352 yards of total offense (289 rushing, 63 passing).

The Tigers, who also captured the OVAC Class 2A title with the win, jumped in front the initial quarter, with Chris Littell scampering 14 yards for the games opening score. Cody Hudson split the uprights for a 7-0 Shadyside lead.

Ramsey picked up his score in the second frame on a 60-yard jaunt and again Hudson added the point-after kick as the Tigers took a 14-0 lead to the locker room at the halftime break.

Shadyside (10-0) tacked on a pair of scores the third stanza, with quarterback Chase Kinemond picking of a Barnesville pass (one of two interceptions by the Tigers) and returning it 15 yards to the house.

Later in the round, Jacob Spencer plunged in from the two for the second score of the frame and Hudson was true on both PAT boots for a commanding 28-0 lead heading into the final 12 minutes of action.

Barnesville also had six fumbles in the game, with Shadyside recovering two to give the Tigers offense more opportunities.

In the final quarter, the Tigers tacked on an insurance tally when Austin Dorris hauled in a Kinemond 27-yard scoring aerial and Jake Haswell did the honors for the PAT to provide the 35-0 final.

Barnesville (4-6) collected 144 net yards of offense, running the ball 40 times for 132 yards led by Colton Pritchard with 74 yards on 19 attempts. The Rocks completed just 1-of-8 passing attempts for 14 yards and suffered the two interceptions.

Sophomore signal-caller Isaac McGee was 0-of-2 passing and was picked off once, while Pritchard completed 1-of-6 attempts for the 14 yards but also suffered a interception. Brandon Burkhart had the one catch for Barnesville.

Following Ramsey in rushing for the Tigers was Littell with 37 yards on just six tries. Kinemond completed 4-of-6 passes for 63 yards ,with Dorris on the receiving end of all four.

Gabrielle Fulst was crowned the 2012 Barnesville Homecoming Queen during halftime festivities.
