Barnesville 9, Shadyside 4

A big five run fourth inning lifted host Barnesville High past Shadyside 9-4 in the season opener for both squads on Monday night.

Tyler Kurtz went six innings on the mound to pick up the win for the Shamrocks, chalking up nine punchouts and allowing four walks.

Barnesville (1-0) was led at the plate by Zach Dornon with three singles, while Dylan McMillan doubled and singled. Tyler Moore and Mason Plumly each added a pair of basehits, while Preston Dornon ripped an RBI triple for the winners.

Cody Kubancik led Shadyside (0-1) with a pair of singles and two RBIs.
