photo by Reed Tychonski The Barnesville and Beallsville girls basketball teams staged a wild west shootout in the Shamrock gym Thursday night. The two squads put 170 points on the board (87-83) with Shamrock senior Heidi Hines scorching the nets with a career high 39 points. Barnesville jumped to a big lead early, but committed 24 turnovers and were out rebounded 51-46 to allow the Blue Devils to remain in the contest. In fact, it took a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to secure the victory, after Beallsville cut an 11 point lead down to two with less than 20 seconds remaining. Hines was joined in double figures by teammates: Jessica Hunkler with 17, Jennifer Clouse netted 11 and Marrissa Burga chipped in with 10. Beallsville's Julie Bilyeu and Madison Stephen paced the Blue Devil attack with 23. Alie Campbell also hit double figures notching 13. The Rocks will be on the road Tuesday the 27th when they make the 10- mile trek to Morristown to battle Union Local's Jets. Then, on Wednesday the 29th, the ladies will be back home, playing host to Bellaire St. John's.
