OUE basketball teams advance to Ohio Regional Campus Conference 'Final Four'
The Ohio University-Eastern men and women teams advanced to the Ohio
Regional Campus Conference "Final Four" this Saturday on the campus of Miami University Middletown with a pair of convincing quarterfinal wins on Sunday.
In Hamilton, the top-seeded OU-E Lady Panthers (20-4) had little problem in disposing of Ohio University- Chillicothe, 90-36. The victory not only put OUE in the Final Four, but also was the 100th win for Panthers' coach E.J. Schodzinski.
Barnesville's Allie Doan scored 20 points with five steals for OU-E while Savannah Burke had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kristina Velkovich and Shae Moreland each scored 10 and recorded nine boards, while Natalie Perzanowski dished out eight assists. Barnesvilles Emily Carpenter pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds, and every Panther scored at least six markers.
In the men's game on the campus of OU-Zanesville, the Panthers (18-7) took care of host OU-Z, 89-69. Leading the way for Eastern was Cambridge's Carter Baldwin, who netted 25 in the win with five boards and four steals. Zach
Tolzda added 16 points, while Cambridge's Thomas Norris netted 11 points with four steals.
NEXT -- The OU-E women will face Ohio State-Newark at 1 p.m. Saturday, while the Panther men face Miami- Middletown at 7 p.m. that evening with both games taking place on the campus of Miami-Middletown.
