Barnesville girls beat Caldwell
BARNESVILLE -- The Barnesville High girls rallied from 13 points down in the
fourth quarter, forcing overtime before beating visiting Caldwell, 52-49, on Saturday.
The Lady Shamrocks (9-10) were even with Caldwell (10-9) after the first
quarter at 8-8, but the Lady Redskins outscored Barnesville by three in the second quarter to take a 19-16 lead at half-time. Caldwell then came alive offensively in the third quarter, using a 17-7 edge to build a 36-23 lead with eight minutes to play.
The Lady Shamrocks exploded in the fourth outscoring Caldwell 25-12 to force an extra period with the score deadlocked at 48-all. Caldwell could only manage a single point in the extra frame as Barnesville pulled ahead for the three-point victory.
Heidi Hines finished with a team-high 25 points for Barnesville and she also nabbed two steals. Sarah Phillips added nine points for the Lady Shamrocks, followed by Jessica Hunkler with seven.
Megan Phillips pulled down a seven rebounds to lead the Lady Shamrocks while also collecting five points and four assists.
Lizzy Nau led the Lady Redskins with 18 points, followed by Kristin Nau with 13. Courtnie Mackie, Jensen Heller and Stacey Mugrage each finished with six.
