Shadyside High avenged an early season loss to take down Barnesville, 67-46, on Friday.
The Shamrocks (9-6) upended the Tigers (11-3) in a close game earlier this year on a last-second layup by Colby MacMillan. Shadyside wanted no part of a repeat performance as the Tigers came out firing in the first quarter.
Justin Andes knocked down two early "triples" to make his presence felt for Shadyside, leading the Tigers to a 15-7 first quarter advantage.
Barnesville answered in the second quarter to cut the lead to 23-19.
What Barnesville didn't expect was a third-quarter barrage that saw Shadyside go off for 30 points to just eight for the Shamrocks.
Andes nailed four more of his six "triples" in the third quarter to put Shadyside up by 26 heading into the final eight minutes. Barnesville outscored the Tigers 19-14 in the fourth, but it was all for not as Shadyside sealed a 21-point victory.
Kody Skinner and MacMillan finished with seven points each to lead Barnesville. Dalton Smith, Bryson Stephen and Tyler Fitzpatrick added six each, followed by Brennan Delaney with five points.
Andes led Shadyside with 22 points, followed by Nick Schuetz and Patrick O'Donnell with 11 each.
Nathan Butts added 10 points and led the Tigers with seven rebounds. Shadyside outrebounded the Shamrocks, 30-19.
