Annapolis - Lana "Diane" Whitacre, age 75, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Anne Arundel Hospital on May 26, 2021. She was born on 4/11/46 in Barnesville, Ohio to Roland and Nina (King) Whitacre. She graduated from Barnesville High School. She worked in sales and customer service most of her life, as she enjoyed helping people. She retired from Harte Hanks at 73 years of age. Diane was a very spiritual person and was involved in The Salvation Army Church in Annapolis, Maryland where she attended and volunteered. She enjoyed learning about the Bible, spiritual reading, shopping, and being around her family. She especially enjoyed going to visit family in Barnesville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Whitacre of Frederick, Maryland. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Nichols of Batavia, New York; her son, Thomas (Annie) Nichols of Mt. Top, Pennsylvania; her sisters: Sherrol Maratta of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Susan Lynch of Annapolis Maryland; Kathy Cheatham of Millersville, Maryland; and her brother, Greg (Sue) Whitacre of Wilmington, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Justine, Brandon, Ella, and great-grandson, Ashton; aunts and uncles, and many nieces and nephews and close friends. A celebration of life will be determined at a later date. Cremation services were provided by Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A .of Annapolis, Maryland.
