Seifrid P. "Fred" Bruny, PhD
Seifrid P. "Fred" Bruny, PhD, age 83, died December 22, 2009 peacefully at home surrounded by his family in Columbus, Ohio. He was born November 25, 1926 in Belmont County, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Seifrid and Violet Steele Bruny.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of 59 years; children, Stuart (Tracy), Barbara (Bill) Seib and Amy (Jim) Kugler; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a World War II Army veteran with overseas duty in Okinawa. He taught vocational agriculture in Coshocton County and worked in the OSU County Extension Service in Coshocton and Jackson counties. Professor Emeritus, Fred retired from OSU in 1982 after 27 years in the State 4-H Office. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a long time member of King Ave. United Methodist Church. The family received friends at Weir-Arend Funeral Home, 4221 North High St., Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, December 27, 2009. The memorial service followed. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to the 4-H Camp Ohio Endowment in care of Ohio 4-H Foundation, 2201 Fred Taylor Dr., Columbus, OH 43210.
