Chester Lee McDonnell, 53, formerly of Barton and the St. Clairsville, Ohio area, died January 2, 2009 in Atlanta, Ga. after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born June 16, 1955 in Martins Ferry to Charles McDonnell and Magdalen Reger McDonnell.
He was a registered nurse and was employed as a demand manager at Wellpoint/BCBS in Atlanta, and a member of the usher board at First Metropolitan Community Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy V. and Charles M. McDonnell, Jr.
Ches was well-known and respected for his compassion, conscientiousness, good humor, and outstanding devotion to his family, friends and work. He will be sadly missed very much loved and appreciated, and never forgotten by his sisters, Sharon A. Stewart of Bellaire; and Martha L. Fox of Bethesda; nephews James M. Fox of Charleston, W.Va., Joel M. Fox of Bethesda, Kenneth C. McDonnell of New Braunfels, Texas and Steven W. McDonnell of Greenville, Mich.; and niece, Linda K. Stewart, of Barnesville.
Arrangements were handled by Wages and son Funeral Home, 1040 Main St., Stone Mountain, Ga. Internment was at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
