Rolland Clement Stephen, Sr., 82, of 14308 Daley Road, Hagerstown Md., passed away, Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. Born Friday, November 19, 1926, in Malaga, Ohio, he was the son of the late Milton Stephen and the late Anna Rhoda Jeffers Stephen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Lou Kemp Stephen in 2004.
He was employed at Mack Truck Inc. retiring in 1991 after 29 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 171, American Legion Post 202 Williamsport, Md., and the Moose Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Tamara Lee Poper of Greencastle, Pa., and Debra A. High of Hagerstown; two sons, Terry M. Stephen of Greencastle, Pa., and Rolland C. Stephen, Jr. of Hagerstown; four sisters, Bertha Carpenter of Barnesville, Ohio, Thelma Froehlich of Barnesville, Madeline Mellinger of Jerusalem, Ohio, and Virginia Gallagher of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, William Stephen of Salem, Ohio, and Joseph Stephen of Canton; and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Marjorie Palmer, Mildred Hardesty, and Wanda Devitt, brothers, Clarence Stephen, Garold Stephen and Hubert Stephen.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD with the Pastor Len Smith officiating. Friends were received Tuesday, January 20. Interment will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
