Clarice Bernadine McVicker, 77, of Cambridge and formerly of Batesville, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Victorian Oaks Assisted Living, Cambridge. She was born January 24, 1931 on a farm near Batesville, in Noble County, the daughter of the late Edgar and Edna (Watson) Douglas.
She was a graduate of Batesville High School and enjoyed sewing and was an avid basketball fan. Now retired, Mrs. McVicker was a seamstress for 40 years. She was also a member of the Calais Church.
Survivors include four sons, William (Judy Watkins) McVicker of Byesville, Richard "Dick" McVicker, Kenneth (Vicki) McVicker and James (Janis) McVicker all of Summerfield; one daughter, Sheila B. (Junior) Ackerman of Lewisville; one sister, Lois Bates; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death b one daughter, Cheryl Jean McVicker; one brother, Thomas Douglas; and one granddaughter, Krista Ackerman.
Family and friends were received Monday, December 29 at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 30 with Evangelist Myron Guiler officiating.
