Barnesville cheerleaders earned the 3A runner up award at the OVAC cheerleading championships recently. The Barnesville Varsity cheerleading competition squad has had its share of obstacles this past year with a high number of injuries. However, the girls never gave up. With the help of fundraisers, the school and the community, they were able to purchase a full set of mats for their practices. They put in the work, made changes, and were able to earn 3A runner up at the OVAC cheerleading championships at Wesbanco Arena on Feb. 1. This is their second consecutive year earning runner up. The varsity cheerleaders are led by head coach Lauren King and assistant coaches Amy Carvin and Taylor Baker.
