College Credit Plus Information Night to be Held at Belmont College

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Belmont College will be hosting a College Credit Plus informational session on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Academic Technical Center in St. Clairsville. The event will be in an Open House format, and formal presentations will take place at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. The premise of College Credit Plus is to afford students in grades 7 through 12, at no cost to them, the ability to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities.

Through the College Credit Plus program, eligible students can:

Earn college credit and required high school graduation credits at the same time.

Start a college degree early.

Take classes that transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Expand opportunities, discover new interests, and explore liberal arts as well as technical programs.

Enjoy participating in high school activities while taking college classes.

Save thousands of dollars in college tuition.

Walk-in clinics scheduled

The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics the first Friday of each month. The hours are from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Bellaire WIC office is located in the Chase Bank building on the fourth floor, room 402.

New clients need to bring proof of address, proof of income, proof of pregnancy and photo identification for themselves. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns.

Clients needing recertified, need to bring photo identification, proof of income and proof address. WIC is supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides nutrition education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply.
