BETHESDA — The Village of Bethesda has once again named Pete Busack police chief at its meeting Dec. 17. Council voted in favor of Busack’s promotion 5-1.

Busack was originally appointed to chief in March and then demoted in October. He has since served as lieutenant and temporary chief.

During the last several council meetings, residents came out to voice their displeasure with council’s decision.

At the Nov. 19 council meeting, the board voted to demote Busack from chief. During that meeting, council referenced one offense during Busack’s time with the department and another issue they called "concerning," but wouldn't go into any detail.

Busack is now under probation for six months.
