Christmas tours set
The Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum, 532 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, hosts the annual tours in this elegant, 26-room mansion spectacularly decorated for the holidays. The museum will be open for tours each weekend through Dec. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and by appointment only after Dec. 23 through Jan. 6.
Township meetings set
Somerset Township will have its 2019 year end meeting on Monday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. The 2020 reorganizational meeting will take place on Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Somerset Township building. The public is invited to attend.
Bethesda council meeting set
The Village of Bethesda will be having a special meeting on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. for the reason of discussion of police personnel and community discussion. The December regular meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m., where they will conduct the regular monthly business.
School board meeting
The Barnesville Exempted Village School District’s Board of Education will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 a.m. in the Central Office to discuss all matters deemed necessary by the board and superintendent.
Hats, mittens/gloves and food being collected
Help keep fingers warm this Christmas as the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library once again sponsors "A Mitten Tree." Along with the mittens, the library will also be collecting non-perishable foods. Last year, scarves and toboggans also adorned the tree. The library staff invites everyone to stop by and donate a pair of gloves, mittens, scarves, toboggans or non-expired food to help others through the cold winter months.
Candle Lighting Service set
The Batesville United Methodist Church will be having a Candle Lighting Service on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. The service will be followed by light refreshments and fellowship. The church is located on State Route 513 in Batesville. For questions, call 740-679-2608.
Blue Star Banner available
The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.
Coin club meets
The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are open to the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
