ZANESVILLE — Barnesville High’s golf team missed out on earning a trip to the OHSAA State Golf Tournament during Division II district play at EagleSticks Golf Course on Monday afternoon.

Needing a top two team showing, the ‘Rocks finished fourth in the team standings with 337, which was 27 shots behind champion Garaway and 23 back of state-bound John Glenn with Carrollton taking third place at 323.

Pacing the Barnesville effort was senior Payne Johnson, who closed his prep career with a solid round of 77. Carter Wells shot 79, followed by Jim Byler (88) and Jude Hannahs (93).
