Will the Steelers Be Able To Win Without Roethlisberger?
By Anna Yater
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, has recently suffered an elbow injury, and it has him out for the season. Mason Rudolph took over the quarterback’s position. With Big Ben there, their win percentage is 49.4%. Without Ben is 41.3% . So, Ben does help the team a little, but it’s not a drastic difference. With their new wide receiver, Juju Smith-Schuster, they might have a shot without Big Ben. I think it’s the other player’s chance to prove that they can win without Roethlisberger.
Will the Pirates Ever Have a Winning Record?
By Jeremy Hunkler
The Pittsburgh Pirates had a record of 44-45 heading into the 2019 All-Star break and were only 2 ½ games out of first place in the NL Central. Surprisingly, they were contenders, then everything fell apart. Posting a 22-40 record this second half, the Pirates have been an absolute disaster of a team. Whether it was Josh Bell falling HARD back to Earth after an outstanding first half of the season, or the atrocities committed by the starting pitching, or everyone slumping offensively except for Marte and Reynolds, or the multiple clubhouse altercations, the Pirates have been a mess this second half. Oh, and this just in, the one bright spot and most consistent player on the Pirates, closer Felipe Vazquez, has been charged with statutory sexual assault. To say the least, 2019 has been one long and disappointing year to be a Pirates’ fan.
