Barnesville Village Council approved an amended annual appropriations with suspension at its July 22 meeting.
Council also voted to support St. Clairsville’s opposition to injection wells.
Meanwhile, Fiscal Officer Vicki Magers informed council that the renewal information for the Health Plan 2019-2020 was in their packets for review and is due by Sept. 1. Councilman Jamie Betts said he had no different rates available yet and requested to wait until next council meeting to approve the renewal of the health plan.
Village Administrator Roger Deal gave accolades to the water crew of Roger Morris, Rick Bostic and AEP for their willingness to work nights in the downtown area when it is less busy. Deal informed council that ODOT and Shelly & Sands will be paving soon, weather permitting.
Deal also informed council that AEP has replaced the utility poles and electric lines on Chestnut Street which no longer allows banners to be hung over the roadway.
Residents Tom and Valerie Householder expressed their concerns over maintaining an alley where they have just replaced a water line. Village Administrator Deal said a job order has been written.
Village Administrator Deal said Astro Pools will be out to test to the village’s swimming pool and hopefully find out where the leak is occurring.
Also, the easements for the Slope Creek Waterline have been signed. Village Administrator Deal thanked Council President Brad Hudson for all his help in getting this completed. Deal is working on plans to be submitted to the Ohio EPA for review and approval to install with a review fee of $14,000.
