The Barnesville Alumni Banquet was held on Saturday, July 13 at the Barnesville High School cafeteria.

Social hour was held from 5 to 6 p.m. at which time the Barnesville Alumni Band, under the leadership of Rick Clift, performed pre-banquet entertainment for all to enjoy. The band also played The National Anthem and our Alma Mater at the beginning of the banquet.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Rev. Tom Detling from the Class of 1963. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of The United States of America was led by Girl Scout Troop 33069 under the direction of troop leader, Julie Starr. The Invocation was given by Mr. Larry House from the Class of 1969. Following a delicious sit down meal provided by the cooks from Barnesville High School all Veterans were asked to stand and be recognized. Also recognized were former Barnesville Hall of Fame attendees.

Those in attendance were: Mrs. Betty Gatchel Pokas, Class of 1954, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, Mrs. Jean Palmer Davies, Class of 1945, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003, Dr. Richard Skinner, Class of 1955, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005, and Mr. Richard "Dick" Thomas, Class of 1954, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.

The Barnesville Area Education Foundation was proud to announce two inductees into the Barnesville Alumni Hall of Fame, and they were: Mr. John Timothy Parkinson, Class of 1960, presented by his daughter, Ms. Kristin Fahey; and Mr. Thomas Eugene Claugus, Class of 1969, presented by friend and classmate, Ms. Sally McKenzie.

Also honored were the following classes: The Class of 1939 was honored to have one attendee, and she was Pauline Mayberry Doudna. Pauline celebrated her 80th Class Reunion, and her daughter, Paula Doudna Stephens spoke on her mother's behalf.

The Class of 1944 celebrated their 75th class reunion with three classmates and they were: Tom Burkhart, Jeanne Gibbons Harris, and Clifford Leroy Phillips. Rev. Tom Detling, the Master of Ceremonies, read a prepared statement from the class. The Class of 1949, enjoyed their 70th Class Reunion with five class members and they were: Clifford W. Collins, Janet Louhoff Cowgill, Barbara Huntsman Tetlow, Barbara Jones Walker, and Delora Smith Zollars. Clifford W. Collins, was the speaker for the Class of 1949. The Class of 1954 gathered at their 65th Class Reunion. Their class representative was Dick Thomas. The Class of 1959 observed their 60th Class Reunion. Speaking on their behalf was John Pauls. The Class of 1964 enjoyed their 55th Class Reunion. Dave Johnson represented his class. The Class of 1969 celebrated their 50th Class Reunion and was the honored class of the evening. Tom Claugus spoke on behalf of his class. Mr. Mike Duve from the Class of 1974 attended his 45th Reunion and was recognized for his attendance.

The evening closed with Mr. Karyl Bailey giving the Benediction. He is the husband of Marcella English Bailey from the Class of 1959.
