BELMONT — With the help of generous donors the Belmont County Farm Bureau, School Backpack Program has exceeded their goal of $40,000 and received over $43,000 in donations. This amount will provide 23,888 meals, which is 143,328 servings, to be used by four schools in Belmont County that expressed a need.

Help is needed to package the bulk ingredients into the meals. A packaging event will be held Saturday, July 20 starting at 1 p.m. at Union Local High School Gymnasium, 66779 Belmont Morristown Road, Belmont. Packing will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until all the meals have been packed. Approximately 200 volunteers are needed with plans to conclude by 8 p.m. All individuals and groups are welcome to come and participate at the packaging event as there will be various jobs and all help is appreciated. This will be an amazing and life changing opportunity to help hungry kids have a hot meal to eat. Volunteers may come anytime and stay as long as they can.

For information or if a group would like to register for a specific time, contact Belmont County Farm Bureau, 740-425-3681, or the event coordinator Devin Cain, 740-391-0869.
