Estimated population figures recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau reveal losses continue in the Upper Ohio Valley.

Between 2017 and 2018, Belmont County lost 415 residents, now standing at 67,505. During the same period, Barnesville dropped to 4,039, a loss of 31 while St. Clairsville lost 31 residents, the population now just above the limit to be a city in the Ohio at 5,012.

Monroe County lost 160 residents, the population now pegged at 13,790. Woodfield lost 27 with an estimated 2,236 now living in the county seat.
