ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A Belmont County woman facing animal cruelty charges appeared in Western Division Court on March 5 for a pre-trial hearing.

Shania Wells faces 10 counts of animal cruelty after dead horses and malnourished animals were found on her Belmont farm.

Her defense attorney asked for a continuance, as he's in the process of filing a motion to remove six animals from Julie Larish's property.

Larish has been taking care of the animals since December when the investigation began.

She and several others stood outside of the court in February protesting animal cruelty.
