COLUMBUS — State Rep. Jack Cera (D-Bellaire) announced two scholarship opportunities for students currently enrolled in higher education programs. The third annual Civil Rights Transportation Symposium Scholarship honors students in science, technology, engineering or mathematics-related fields, while the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) Scholarship provides funding for the study of geology, welding, business management, chemistry and other fields related to careers in the natural gas and crude oil industries.
"Access to quality education helps students in Eastern Ohio thrive and find jobs in science, technology and natural gas — industries that are crucial to our region," said Rep. Cera. "Scholarships like these help make sure our young people are supported in seeking the education and training they need to fill these roles in the future."
Both scholarship applications are due March 1 and award $1,000 per student. Last year the OOGEEP scholarship awarded 21 renewal and 41 new scholarships. The Civil Rights Transportation Symposium scholarship will be awarded to three individuals statewide.
