BETHESDA — Bethesda Park Board Clerk Rick Burkhead said they received an Ohio Department of Natural Resources Grant in the amount of $22,798 to replace the bridges along the lake. The Park Board learned of the grant at its meeting Nov. 8. 

Member Debbie Mason said they should apply for $5,000 for the Smith Goshen Grant for the trail. She said there is a CFOV website where the application can be filled out. Burkhead said he will create an account and work on filing for the grant.

Meanwhile, Burkhead informed the board that the gun bash proceeds are $21,217.09 which will be transferred when the grant situations for the trail is figured out.

The park board discussed future projects and maintenance for the park.

The board discussed sending a letter to Jim Patron for his service on the park board.

Burkhead said he will purchase a new water fountain closer to spring and get it installed so that they have a drinking fountain in the playground for the kids.

He said he is working with the IRS to get the park district's charitable 501c3 status reinstated. Burkhead said he was not aware that we were a charitable organization in 2011 and we have not filed the proper annual paperwork to keep that status. He said he is filing the necessary paperwork and will get us reinstated ASAP.

The board’s next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. At that meeting, the board will approve the appropriations and budget for the year.
