Trick or Treats set
Trick or Treat in Barnesville will be Oct. 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Fairview Council has scheduled the Village of Fairview Trick or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. with a weenie roast to follow at the Fire House.
Residents’ meeting planned
The Concerned Barnesville Area Residents (CBAR) provides the surrounding communities a platform by which to better our local and global environment. All are welcome to attend the next CBAR meeting on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Library Annex, 611 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville
Thanksgiving sign-ups set
St. Vincent De Paul's Thanksgiving sign-up will be Nov. 13, 14, 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Recipients must sign-up in person (no phone calls or proxies) and must live in the Barnesville School District, show I.D. and proof of residence, such as a current electric, gas or water bill. No phone or cable bills will be accepted. You must also provide proof of everyone living in the household, such as SS Cards, Medicaid, etc. and proof of income for all in your household.
Class to meet
The ladies of the class of 1965 will meet for their monthly luncheon on Friday, Nov. 2 at Annie K’s. They hope to see you there at noon on that day.
Pancake day set
Barnesville Kiwanis Pancake Day will be Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Catholic Church Hall, West Main and Gardner streets, Barnesville.
Election Supper planned
The Somerton United Methodist Church is having an Election Supper on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The church is located in Somerton on State Route 800, eight miles south of Barnesville. The menu will be your choice of one of three meats: Meatloaf, ham, or chicken fricassee, noodles, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, roll, dessert, and beverage — all for a donation. Book and gift sale set
The Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary will be sponsoring a Book and Gift Sale on Friday, Nov. 9 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Classroom. Also on Friday, Nov. 9, the Poplar Twig will be holding a Muffin and Hot Cider sale from 7 to 10 a.m. in the Main Lobby.
Leaf pick up
The Street Department will once again pick up leaves that are bagged and left curbside by residents of the Village of Barnesville. The bags must be the biodegradable compostable paper bags. Plastic trash bags will not be accepted. Bags must contain leaves only and will be picked up as time allows. No specific schedule will be followed.
Blue Star Banner available
The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.
Coin club meets
The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are opo the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
