The candidates for Ohio auditor will debate Friday in Zanesville, their campaigns announced Monday.
State Rep. Keith Faber, R-Celina, will take on Zack Space, a Democratic former congressman from Dover, at noon at Zane State College’s Advanced Science & Technology Center, which will live-stream the event.
Whether this is the first public debate between the two is a matter of interpretation. The Space campaign this month accused Faber of ducking debates. However, one of the encounters the Space campaign said it was dissatisfied with was one the Space campaign itself proposed — a Cleveland.com forum.
Space spokesman Nathan Cotton later clarified that his camp didn’t want to count that as a debate because it wasn’t streamed or broadcast live and the public couldn’t attend. He conceded that neither circumstance was the fault of the Faber campaign.
Faber, Space and Libertarian candidate Robert Coogan also will appear at a candidate forum Oct. 24 at Temple Beth Shalom, 5089 Johnstown Road, New Albany.
