The summer paving project is complete, according to Barnesville Village Administrator Roger Deal.
Deal told council at its meeting Sept. 17 that the OPWC Paving Project is complete and NLS will be back to pave around the manhole covers. He said the crosswalks and parking lines need to be painted. Overall, Deal said he is happy with the work performed.
Deal also said the Ohio Department of Transportation will begin patching workin on State Route 147 on Oct. 1.
In other business, Deal said there was 28 loans for the Sidewalk Loan Program. Of those, 16 have been paid in full. This has been a good program for residents and businesses, Deal said. This is a 0 percent interest loan and he would encourage more residents to participate.
Deal also told council that Astro Pool has performed the patching on the swimming pool. The pool will be re-filled tomorrow to make sure that all leaks have been repaired.
Meanwhile, Fiscal Officer Vicki Magers and Assistant Fiscal Officer Jeannie Hannahs presented council with a spreadsheet recapping the year-to-date income tax collections from RITA. The income tax collections are up by 21 percent over the same period last year. The village has paid a fee of $22,356 to RITA year-to-date.
In other business, Deal said he had received an estimate from Angelina Stone and Marble for repairs to the Municipal Building’s sandstone in the amount of $7,675. Council approved the estimate.
Mayor Dale Bunting accepted the resignation of Troy Fitzgerald from the Park Board. Bunting thanked Fitzgerald for his service.
Trick or Treat in the village will be Oct. 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Council will meet again on Monday, Oct. 1 in council chambers.
