Gene Edward McCann, 65, of Barnesville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at Astoria Place of Barnesville.
He was born on June 4, 1953, in Bellaire, to the late Edwin and Mary (Slaughter) McCann.
Gene was a simple man valuing friendship and the respect of others more. He learned to be content in whatever life threw at him through his illnesses. He was a sports man through and through being an avid Ohio State and Cincinnati Bengals fan thriving on Cincinnati beating Pittsburgh.
Gene is survived by his brothers, George McCann of Fayetteville, N.C., Arthur McCann of Radcliffe, Ky., and Ed (Pat) McCann of Vienna, Ill.; sisters, Patty Moore of Jacobsburg and Sue McCann of California; special friends, Mike and Melinda Anderson and family; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at the Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, with Mike Anderson officiating. Burial followed ini Armstrong Mills Cemetery in Jacobsburg.
The family would like to thank all the hospitals that helped improve his quality of life over the last few years, the staff at Astoria Place of Barnesville, and Hospice of Guernsey.
