Farmer’s market set
The Barnesville Farmer's Market will be Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon in the "John Schradel" pavilion at the Barnesville Depot. Anyone wishing to join them, feel free to call Jane at 740-484-1519. They will have some veggies and produce, home made jellies and jams, maybe a few baked goods, and some craft items.
Leaf pick up set
The Street Department will once again pick up leaves that are bagged and left curbside by residents of the Village of Barnesville. The bags must be the biodegradable compostable paper bags. Plastic trash bags will not be accepted. Bags must contain leaves only and will be picked up as time allows. No specific schedule will be followed.
Class of 1965 to meet
The ladies of the class of 1965 will meet on Friday, Sept. 7 for their monthly luncheon. Hope to see you at noon at Annie K’s.
Worship at the Rock set
Contemporary worship service every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Barnesville First United Methodist Church. Don't need to miss worship on Sunday mornings, attend on Wednesday evenings. Pastor Ted Buehl will share the Word, contemporary music, and fellowship with others.
Free donuts and coffee at church
The Somerton United Methodist Church invites all to stop at the church parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 7 to 9 a.m. for free donuts and coffee. If you have a need for prayer, Pastor Mark Zimmer will gladly pray with you. Prayers can be unspoken, also, meaning you don’t have to say who or what the need is, and we will pray with you. God will know! Some members of our congregation will also be there and look forward to fellowship with you.
Board meeting set
The Union Local School District will have a special board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. in the Central Office Conference Room. The purpose for the meeting are security matters and any other business deemed necessary.
Citizens to meet
The Concerned Barnesville Area Residents (CBAR) will meet on Thursday, Sept. 6. This grassroots environmental group meets monthly at the Library Annex, 611 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville. All are welcome to join them for this meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Animal Shelter fundraiser set
There will be an Animal Shelter fundraiser at the Barnesville Dairy Queen on Friday, Sept. 7 from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Anyone wanting to give to the animal shelter please stop by.
Uniform sale planned
The Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary will be sponsoring a uniform sale on Friday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the classroom.
Cancer support group to meet
The Three C Cancer Support Group will meet Monday, Sept. 10 at the Barnesville Senior Center at 6 p.m.
Givens’ reunion set
The Givens Family Reunion will start at noon on Sunday, Sept. 9 with a covered dish dinner at the Mother's Club in Barnesville. For information, call 740-425-1145.
Square dance set
The annual WesBanco square dance is set for Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the bank parking lot, 230 E. Main St., Barnesville. The dance will feature the sounds of The Footstompers with Chuck Monticello as the square dance caller. Spaghetti dinners will be available for sale at the Barnesville Senior Citizen Center from 4 to 6 p.m. that night. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, roll, dessert and drink for $8.
Gibbos’ family reunion set
The Gibbons’ family reunion will be Sept. 9 at noon at the Barnesville Mothers Club. Bring a covered dish.
Golf tournament set
The class 3A OVAC golf tournament will be held at Crispin golf course at Oglebay Park, in Wheeling, W.Va., on Thursday, Sept. 13. The tournament will start at 9:30 a.m.
McEndree/Kemp reunion set

Blue Star Banner available
The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.
