The Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library would like to congratulate all the area readers who participated in "Libraries Rock" this summer. The Summer Reading Program continues to be a huge success year after year, thanks to the many children and to the dedicated parents, grandparents and caregivers. This year we saw 207 kids who actively participated in the program and read almost 8,000 books. The Children’s Department provided storytimes, toddlertimes, little tykes, various presenters/entertainers and special programs. The library would also like to give a "Shout Out" to the young adult readers who participated in Y.A. programs.
Highlights from the summer included: Oglebay visit, rock star party, music crafts, ice cream party with guest appearances by the Washington Wild Things baseball team, water balloon the librarians, pizza taste-off donated by Bob’s, D & J’s, Dominos, Home Pizza and My Pizza Place, reading coupons from McDonalds and Chipotle, prizes, book give-a-ways and finally our end of the year party held at the newly renovated Barnesville Pool.
In addition, the library teamed up with the Washington Wild Things to participate in a library game night and attend a Wild Things baseball game.
The library also offered a successful Adult Summer Reading Program with weekly games, activities and of course reading.
