BETHESDA — Bethesda Village Council met in special session July 2 with the purpose of this meeting to hold a budget hearing for the 2019 budget, discuss and hire personnel, and to approve Fire Levy legislation.
Carol Merritt made a motion to approve the 2019 budget and to send it to the county auditor, seconded by Cindy Foose. Motion passed.
Chuck Little made a motion to approve Resolution 2018-5 which is a renewal fire levy, seconded by Jay Vanhorn. Motion passed.
Pete Busack discussed Jamboree in the Hills coverage and stated that he and Robert Tate wish to work over at the event. Busack said he spoke to Martin and he agreed that he was ok with it as long as Bethesda is covered. Mayor Lucas said last year they had an issue were the new cruiser went over to Jamboree. Busack said he would be taking the old Expedition. He said he would like to work Thursday and Friday Evenings as well as Saturday and Sunday. He said there is near 24-hour coverage for Bethesda during Jamboree. Jordan made a motion to approve the Jamboree special detail, seconded by Chuck Little. Motion approved.
Ruth Saffell made a motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel and contracts 7:50 p.m., seconded by Carol Merritt. Motion passed.
At 9:02 p.m. Mayor Lucas declared executive session over.
Jordan Castello made a motion to hire Cory Bodkin for fire and EMT pending a background check, seconded by Chuck Little. Motion passed.
Motion to adjourn by Ruth Saffell and seconded by Jordan Castello, with a unanimous vote.
