WOOSTER — Do you use any of the transportation assistance programs in Wayne County? Do you ride the Wooster Transit? Do you use any of the cab companies in Wayne County? Have you ever needed to get somewhere and didn’t have a way to get there?
If you answered "yes" to any of these, then you might want to participate in the Citizen Transportation Advisory Committee, a group that will meet four times a year and will work with the Wayne County Transportation Coalition on solutions to transportation barriers and on implementing the Locally Coordinated Transportation Plan.
The first project that CTAC will address is applying to the Ohio Department of Transportation for funds from the Federal Transit Administration’s 5311 Rural Transportation Program. The grant application period is June 15 through Aug. 17, and will be for projects starting in 2019.
In addition to the 5311 grant, CTAC members also will be asked to identify transportation barriers and to work with the transportation coalition in addressing and removing those barriers. Meetings will last one to two hours, and accessible transportation will be available if needed.
The first meeting will be June 28 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Community Action Wayne/Medina, 905 Pittsburgh Ave., Wooster. To arrange transportation to the meeting, contact Leslie Baus, Wayne County mobility coordinator, by June 26 at 330-264-8677 or 330-601-3021 or by email at email@example.com.
