The American Legion would like to express their gratitude for everyone’s participation in this year’s Memorial Day Program. Once again, with the help of our local organizations and the pride of our community, this year’s program was a great success.
The preparations don’t just include the program itself. During the month of May, many volunteers gathered to honor our deceased veterans by placing American flags on their gravesites. Once again, we had a fantastic turn-out this year. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to honor our fallen comrades.
Thank you to the following organizations for making this year’s program special: Barnesville VFW, Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, Major General (retired) Gregory Batts, Rev. Gene Miller, Mayor Dale Bunting, Barnesville Police Department, Barnesville VFD, Barnesville EMS, Barnesville Community Alumni Band, Girl Scout Troops 3245, 51008, 51382, and 10063, Bea Swallie, Betty Grey, and Kylee Belle Powell. Thank you to Dave and Connie Bunting for preparing the meals for the luncheon that followed. We would like to continue to build our service year after year to honor our fallen heroes and to remember that freedom is not free.
