Belmont Military Museum opens May 3

The Belmont County Military Veterans Museum, 101 E. Barrister St., will open for the season on May 3. Hours are afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. The museum is open other days by appointment by calling 740-761-0155. Large groups are also asked to schedule tour times.

Morther’s Day basket raffle

The Sugarberry Twig fundraiser is a Mother’s Day Basket Raffle that runs April 30 through May 10. Tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5. Tickets are available in the Main Lobby of Barnesville Hospital. The drawing will take place at 3 p.m.on Thursday, May 10. The basket also includes a spring bouquet of flowers.

Class of 1965 to meet

The ladies of the class of 1965 will meet on Friday, May 4 for their monthly luncheon. Hope to see you at noon at Annie K’s.

‘Mother Goose’ night

The Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library will host a Spring Family Night on Tuesday, May, 8 at the Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. (after regular business hours) This event is for children ages 2-8. Activities include a story, craft, and a snack. Registration is required. Stop in the library or call 740-425-1651 to register for an evening of nursery rhyme fun.

Uniform Sale planned

The Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary will be sponsoring a Uniform Sale on Friday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Classroom/Boardroom.

Residents to meet

The Concerned Barnesville Area Residents (CBAR) will have its meeting on Thursday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. This grassroots environmental group meets monthly at the Library Annex, 611 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville.

Poppies on sale

The American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day will be May 5 in Barnesville. The crate paper poppies will be sold at various locations throughout the village from 10 a.m. to noon. The poppies are made by veterans and the money raised from them goes to VA hospitals in Ohio.

Blue Star Banner available

The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.

Down Home Decals and Flower Garden Fundraiser

The Sugarberry Twig is sponsoring a Down Home Decals and Flower Gardens Fundraiser on Friday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the classroom at Barnesville Hospital. Flower gardens will have some spring flowers available just in time for Mother’s Day.

FFA car show planned

The third annual Harrison Career Center FFA tractor, truck, engine and car show will be May 6 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds, 550 Grant St., Cadiz, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be food, music and family fun. Admission is by donation. For information, call 330-440-5578.

Coin club meets

The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are open to the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
