Art show set

Student Art Show – An exhibit featuring artwork by K-4 students at the Barnesville Elementary School will be open to families and the public Sunday, May 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Watt Center for History and the Arts, 511 Watt Avenue. The walls of several former office rooms on the main floor along with free-standing displays in the meeting room will feature more than 100 pieces of the local students’ works.

Pave the Trail Fundraiser – Bethesda Epworth Park, JJ Shelter, Saturday May 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. BBQ picnic, food, bake sale, vendor show, fair, games, live music, petting zoo and more.

Football Cash Bash and steak fry set

The third annual Blue Devil Football Cash Bash and Steak Fry is set for Saturday, May 5 at the Beallsville American Legion post 768. The steak fry will be from noon to 6 p.m. The Country Store/?Auction will be from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a disc jockey and dance from 8 p.m. to ? The cost is $25 per ticket. There will be cash drawings every half hour starting at Noon. The grand prize for the drawings is $1,000 and will be drawn at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Beallsville Football Program.

Love II event at Bethesda park

Mark your calendars for May 26 when they are inviting everyone to the free Love II event in Bethesda at the park. They will feature great music by local artists, wonderful speakers, free hamburgers and hot dogs and so much more. More information will be available in the coming weeks. This will be the second Love event as we share the love that we have for Jesus and one another. If you want to be a part of this great event or want to sing, speak or have questions please contact Marvin and Linda Dalton at 740-761-0060 or email ldalton201@gmail.com. Plant Swap set

Belmont County Master Gardeners will have its 20th annual Plant Swap on Tuesday, May 8 at 6 p.m. in the Wise Building on the Belmont County Fairgrounds. Those swapping plants are asked to label the plant with the name and any information you have. Bring a plant or two, and swap them for something new. Trade flowers, veggies, herbs, trees, shrubs and more. Raffle tickets will be available (two tickets for a $1) for garden related goodies. Proceeds will fund programs and events by the Master Gardeners.

‘Pave the Trail’ set for May 19

"Pave the Trail" is set for Saturday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Epworth Park, JJ Shelter, Bethesda (rain date is Sunday, May 22 from noon to 5 p.m.). Join them to raise money to pave the walking trail. They have secured funding of $20,000 to go towards the projected total cost of $45,000 to remove the old trail, put in a good base, and pave the walking trail so that it can be enjoyed by everyone. That’s where they need the help of others. They will be accepting monetary donations for the project and you get your name on a brick at the start of the walking trail. There will also be food, vendor show/?fair with a $10 registration fee, carnival games, large format Jenga, bake sale, live music, petting zoo, flower pot and kite decorating, corn hole tournament, treasure hunt, Chinese auction and 50/?50 raffle and much more.

Barnesville FFA Hoot N’ Holler Community Fun Day set for May 19

The Barnesville High School FFA Chapter will be hosting their annual Hoot N’ Holler Community Fun Day on Saturday May 19 at Barnesville Memorial Park. Events will start at 12pm and wrap up at 10 p.m. Events will include tractor cruise, petting zoo, pedal pull, carnival games, sheep shearing demonstration, dunk tank, Ag Olympics, fishing tournament, inflatables and more. The FFA Greenhouse class will have a flower sale where kids will be able to plant their own flowers. To end the day there will be a square dance by Deep Down Country. Concessions will be provided by Cowgirl Country Fixin’s (Jody Hunter) and Shamrock Tropical Sno.

There will be a Cow Patty Bingo during the event. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any FFA member. Look for more information about our event each week in the Barnesville Enterprise. Belmont SWCD board meetings set

Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District announces the following board meeting dates for 2018: May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10. Meetings will be held at 101 Market St., St. Clairsville, at 6 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.

Walk-in clinics set

The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics the first Friday of each month. The hours are from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Bellaire WIC office is located int eh Chase Bank building on the fourth floor, room 402. New clients need to bring proof of address, proof of income, proof of pregnancy and photo identification for themselves. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns. Clients needing recertified, need to bring photo identification, proof of income and proof address. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides nutrition education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply. For information, call 740-676-2232.

Belmont SWCD is having a photo contest for our 2019 "Belmont County Old Barns" Calendar. The deadline for the contest is Aug. 10, 2018. If you have an old barn send us a picture or give us a call and we can come snap a photo for you, and have a chance for it to be showcased in our 2019 calendar! We are hoping to have photos from all the seasons, so get your fall pictures in now!
