‘Dirt is Fun’ program

Farm Out 2018 "Dirt is Fun" is set for Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 pm. at the Olney Friends School, 61830 Sandy Ridge Road, Barnesville. Students in grades fifth through eighth are invited to the 350-acre organic farm for a day filled with educational and farm activities. A scavenger hunt, Earth Day activities, and a poetry workshop are just a few of the planned events. To reserve a spot, call 740-425-3655 by April 13.

Power outage

AEP is planning to make a repair to their sub station in Barnesville on Saturday, April 28 at midnight until Sunday 4 a.m. The entire community of Barnesville will be without power.

Downtown cleanup

Barnesville downtown cleanup will be Tuesday, April 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. Business owners are encouraged to spruce up your store fronts.

Poppies on sale

The American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day will be May 5 in Barnesville. The crate paper poppies will be sold at various locations throughout the village from 10 a.m. to noon. The poppies are made by veterans and the money raised from them goes to VA hospitals in Ohio.

Band to perform

Almost Famous CD celebration at the Grange Hall in Barnesville at 7 p,m. April 21. Free admission. Come and have a good time.

Safety Committee meeting set

The Union Local School District Board of Education will have a Safety Committee meeting on Thursday, April 12 at 3 p.m. in the Central Office Conference Room.

Women’s softball league meeting

The Barnesville Women's Softball League is having a meeting on Sunday. April 22 at 6 p.m. at Recreation Center at Memorial Park. Anyone wanting to put a team in or want to play on a team may notify Ginny Bell at 740-425-4386.

Quarter auction set

Barneville Shamrock Football Quarter Auction is set for Saturday, April 29 at the Barnesville Elks, 117 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville. Doors open at noon. Auction starts at 1 p.m. There will also be a 50/?50 raffle, Chinese auction and concession stand available. Admission is $5 for one paddle; additional paddles are a $1 each (max is three paddles). School board meeting

The Barnesville Exempted Village Board of Education will met Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school cafetorium.

Blue Star Banner available

The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.

Trustees to meet

The Board of Goshen Township Trustees, Belmont County, will meet on the first and third Mondays of the month at 4:30 p.m. The meetings are held at the Township Hall, North Main Street, Bethesda. The public is welcome to attend.

Save the date

The annual Barnesville Community Spring Banquet sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce will take place Thursday, April 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Elks Ballroom.

FFA car show planned

The third annual Harrison Career Center FFA tractor, truck, engine and car show will be May 6 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds, 550 Grant St., Cadiz, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be food, music and family fun. Admission is by donation. For information, call 330-440-5578.

Coin club meets

The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are open to the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
