The Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce announces Barnesville native Sue Timmons Busler will return home and deliver the keynote address at the Community Spring Banquet, Thursday, April 26 at the Barnesville Elks Ballroom.

Speaking on the topic of "Home Grown: Roots, Rocks and the Rest," Bussler will reflect on how Barnesville roots well-equipped her for life. Antidotal, often humorous stories, will also illustrate serious take-aways she has learned after leaving the old hometown.

The daughter of Kenneth and Agnes Timmons, Busler grew up on West Main Street, graduated from Barnesville High School, and received a coveted appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.

Busler is a Class of 1980 Distinguished Military Graduate of the Academy, a member of the first class of women accepted into the elite school at Colorado Springs, CO.

She served as a Colonel in the USAF, retiring in October 2007 after a distinguished career spanning 27 years.

Today, Busler is a Certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church. She regularly preaches at the Worden, Illinois United Methodist Church, a satellite church of Troy, IL United Methodist Church where she is a member. She has also served as base hospital chapel coordinator and a pastor’s assistant.

In 2003, Sue was inducted into the Barnesville Area Education Hall of Fame at the annual alumni banquet.
