We're not closing.
Closing would be the immediate reaction when someone sees the building at 166 E. Main St., Barnesville, dark and locked.
But The Barnesville Enterprise is NOT closing.
The entity that has served the Barnesville area for over 150 years is planning to continue to serve the community, but it will be in a different ways.
Just as box stores face the problems of maintaining bricks and mortar, so does The Barnesville Enterprise. In order to maintain the presence of a weekly newspaper in our community, it has become necessary to close the physical office in order to maintain the physical newspaper.
"The newspaper is not the building," said Ray Booth, managing editor. "The Barnesville Enterprise has chronicled the births, birthdays, engagements, weddings, anniversaries and deaths for thousands of residents over the years and intends to continue to chronicle those events that are important to the community."
The Barnesville Enterprise will continue to be printed each week and continue to cover the news and print those news items which are supplied to us by people in the community.
Evolving technology now allows The Barnesville Enterprise to be assembled anywhere digitally and sent on to the printing facility in Wooster.
While the physical building will be closing you can still contact The Enterprise. For advertising call 740-439-6157 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. For circulation, news or general information call 740-439-3531 or e-mail email@example.com.
